Our 84th Annual Hong Kong Bible Conference has just ended after 10 days and 28 gatherings. This conference is like a festival in Old Testament era: a spiritual feast flowing with living water. God's grace is sufficient; His words were proclaimed and they warmed our hearts.
Dr. D.A. Carson expounded on the Book of Nehemiah. His talk centered on knowing God and God's covenant through God's words, and how important that is for a believer's spiritual journey, for corporate repentance and revival, for revelation, strengthening, triumph and glory!
Elder Li Chien showed through the Book of Philippians the Christ-centered life which leads to unchanging joy and peace. Peace and joy from Christ triumphs over difficult times and poverty; it prompts us to love each other, to become providers, intercessors and grace-givers.
Pastor Timothy San-Jarn Wu demonstrated biblical life planning. When we are walking through a desert time, we shall keep a divine vision and put our sense of security in God; we shall look ahead to the end times, as revealed in the Book of Revelation, and set that as our eternal coordinate; we shall treat each night as a minor judgment day, so that God's light may flow into our hearts; we shall earnestly call attention to the need for intercessors and new leaders in the church.
While numbers from Live Broadcasting Churches show that 160,000 have attended the 10 day conference, more than 1,800 declared their faith, and hundreds of young people came forward to kneel and give themselves to the Lord. Some of those young people cried, some rejoiced, and they all reverently willed to be full-time ministers. May the worldwide church pray for this new generation of workers!
On the last night of the conference, the chairman gave thanks to hard-working volunteers and co-workers in each of the Live Broadcasting Churches. The chairman also summarized two common points from the talks given by three speakers with very different styles—1) we need to focus on the ways of cross; 2) we need to focus on the continuity of revival by caring for young leaders in the church.
The Bible conference has ended for now. But we desire your daily, persistent intercession for your ministers/pastors as well as the new generation of believers!
The speakers for next year are: Dr. Stephen Lee (李思敬)，Pastor Au Pak Ping (區伯平), and Pastor Fernando from Sri Lanka. Please remember them in your prayers during the coming year!
(After the conference, Dr. Carson went back to Chicago to serve and write. Elder Li is back in Taiwan to shepherd his beloved church. Pastor Wu went on to European cities for a month-long preaching trip. He was not well after the conference. Please remember to pray for all three warriors for Christ.)
